NAIS Libraries

NAIS partner institutions have offices and stations in all except one of Papua New Guinea’s 19 provinces and National Capital District. However, libraries proper are only located in the following nine provinces and the NCD:

Central Province

  • NARI Dry Lowlands Programme, Laloki – dryland crops especially bananas, yams

East New Britain

  • CCI Headquarters, Tavilo – cocoa, coconuts
  • NARI Wet Lowlands Islands Programme, Keravat – spices, sweet potatoes, nut crops, fruits

Eastern Highlands

  • CIC Headquarters, Goroka – coffee (economics)
  • CIC Research & Grower Services Division, Aiyura – coffee (research)
  • NARI Highlands Programme, Aiyura – sweet potatoes

Madang Province

  • CCI Stewart Research Station, Madang – coconuts
  • RSL Gusap – sugarcane, cattle, oil palm, peanuts

Milne Bay

  • OPRA Milne Bay Research Station, Alotau – oil palm

Morobe

  • NARI Livestock Programme, Labu – rabbits, pigs, poultry, guineapigs, sheep
  • NARI Headquarters, Wet Lowlands Mainland Programme, Rice & Grain Programme, Weed Programme, Bubia – taro, rice, pulses, weeds, livestock

National Capital District

  • DAL Central Library, Moresby Town – general agriculture, agricultural development, policy and planning
  • National Agricultural Insect Collection, Kilakila – entomology
  • National Chemical Laboratory – soils, chemical analysis

Oro

  • OPRA Higaturu Research Station – oil palm

West New Britain

  • NBPOL Research Division, Dami – oil palm
  • OPRA Dami Research Station – oil palm

Western Highlands

  • NARI High Altitude Research Station, Tambul – potatoes, wheat
  • NARI Office, Mt Hagen
